Doesn't Look like 80cc to me

I have unpacked the box to see what I have.

You Can't see the ruler very well. Vertically, the motor is about 12 inches

If it is 80cc, incredibly light weight (12 lbs!)

Received 80 CC HT Kit from BoyGoFast First Glance

I have been looking at motorizing a bicycle for some time. I initiated an order back in March 2008 (which fell apart), it is now July 23, 2008. For 4 months I have spun my wheels trying to get a motorized bicycle going. Deal, after Deal, kept falling apart. So here I am once again.

Step #1 Open Box, Identify Parts and Review Installation Instructions.

Step #2 Buy a mountain bike to install motor in.

Sucked In by Staton-Inc

Am I alone in wanting to be active?

When I say active I mean swimming, hiking, mountain biking, and any other outdoor activity. There is more than 500km of bicycle trails in my area. Not everyone is in pristine shape and able to bike 80 km roundtrips without feeling it a chore. It takes away from the enjoyment of doing these things. Ordinarily, I would put my mountain bike on my bicycle rack and drive to the beach; with the energy crunch there is an increased pressure to look at alternate ways of getting around in order to continue doing the things I like.

Solution?

I thought of an Electric Bicycle kit but they would not give me the range of 80 km I would need to get to and from the beach. I began looking at Motorized Bicycles as a solution. Like most people my search included using google and ebay. There are alot of choices out there and its tough to get good accurate information to make that right choice.

The Choices? How good are they and what can you expect when you make that choice? Dream or Nightmare?

Staton-Inc. - http://www.staton-inc.com/Default.asp
Golden Eagle - http://www.bikeengines.com/
Black Star Direct - http://myworld.ebay.ca/blackstardirect/

There are many types of motors used on bicycles. Although bulkier I opted for the engine over the rear wheel solution. Staton uses a chain and hub. Golden Eagle and Black Star uses a belt and pulley that attaches to the spokes of the wheel.

I was leaning towards the Black Star but because they wouldnt accept paypal and wanted you to deposit money into an account I was hesitant. Golden Eagle is identical but I thought they were expensive. For whatever reason I ended up going for the staton kit.

DREAM OR NIGHTMARE??
.....

With his kit, I did not get a parts lists or Instructions. What I got was a reference to his website. After not getting the after sales support and his attitude among other things, I returned his kit and got a refund. What I can say of his kit, is HEAVY! If you do buy his kit be sure to get him to sell you complete rear wheel.
